PURPOSE: To obtain a novel derivative, good in solubility in a binder polymer and useful as a high-performance charge transport material suitable for preparing an electrophotographic photoreceptor, etc., having a high sensitivity thereof and a low residual potential.
CONSTITUTION: This tetraaryl-2,6-diaminopyridine derivative is expressed by formula 1 [R1 to R3 are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, a halogen, an aryl or a substituted aryl], e.g. a compound in which all the R1, R2 and R3 are H in the compound expressed by formula 1. The compound expressed by formula 1 is obtained by condensing, e.g. a 2,6-dihalogenopyridine expressed by formula 2 (X is halogen) with a substituted acetanilide expressed by formula 3, then hydrolyzing the resultant compound, providing a 2,6-dianilinopyridine derivative expressed by formula 4, subsequently carrying out the Ullmann reaction of the prepared derivative with a substituted iodobenzene expressed by formula 5 in the presence of copper powder or anhydrous copper sulfate.
