PURPOSE: To provide an automatic developing machine and processing method enabling the rapid and stable processing of silver halide photographic material of high sensitivity without generating a scratch and a problem such as the lowering of sensitivity and contrast.

CONSTITUTION: An automatic developing machine formed of developing, fixing, washing and drying processes is a roller carrier type automatic developing machine having a means for raising the temperature of photographic material, developed in less than 14 seconds and also processed, to 30-55°C prior to entering a processing drum. Silver halide photographic material containing silver chloride- iodide-bromide grain of 0.8mol% or less in the content of silver iodide and 3.0 or more in an aspect ratio, by 50% or more of the whole silver halide grain is processed by this automatic developing machine.
