PURPOSE: To make the floating amount of a head constant and stable and to improve the recording density by forming the front edge part of a positive pressure generating rail into roughly the wedge shape so that the width of the rail becomes narrower as it goes to the front edge. CONSTITUTION: The center rail 1 is formed to the constricted shape in the width direction at the center part in the longitudinal direction, and a magnetic head 7 is mounted thereon at the rear end. A side rail 2 is formed to the shape so that the sides facing to the rail 1 are contracted in the width direction at the center parts in the longitudinal direction. The rail 1 having such a shape makes the floating amount of the position of magnetic head hard to be affected by the variation of the floating amount in the roll direction, and the decrease of the floating amount at the time when a yaw angle is effected is lessened. The floating amount of the head is made constant and stable accordingly.
