Abstract:

To produce optically active alcohols highly efficiently and highly selectively by asymmetrically reducing various ketones using as a catalyst a transition metal complex of a new triphosphane compound.

The triphosphane compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are each an alkyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group, cycloalkyl group, alkoxy group or the like).
