Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a plastic substrate for liquid crystal display element, which is dense, high in barrier property, excellent in adhesion property to a base material composed of a polymer material, has a gas barrier layer not impairing the flexibility of the plastic base material and exhibits stable performance.
CONSTITUTION: The plastic substrate 1 for liquid crystal display element is obtained by laminating the gas barrier layer 3, which is formed on the base material 2 composed of a polymer material by plasma CVD method and is composed of a continuous layer of a silicon oxide (SiOx) containing a mixture or compound of one or more kinds of carbon, hydrogen, silicon and oxygen in the components and decreased in the content from the film surface in the depth direction, and further laminating a hard coat layer 4 on the gas barrier layer 3.
