Title:
REFERENCE VOLTAGE GENERATING CIRCUIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3315060
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arbitrary output voltage higher than 1.2V at a reference voltage generating circuit for compensating a temperature while utilizing a band gap voltage.
SOLUTION: A new resistor R31 is connected between the base and emitter of a transistor Q12 having the emitter area ratio of '1'. The current to flow to a resistor R14 becomes the total sum of collector currents Ic1 and Ic2 of two transistors Q11 and Q12 and the current to flow to the resistor R31 connected between the base and emitter of the transistor Q12. Since a base/emitter voltage VBE12 is a fixed value, the total sum of currents to flow to the resistor R14 can be changed by the resistor R31 connected between the base and emitter. Therefore, by setting the resistance values of this resistor R31 and the resistor R14 connected between the emitter and base of the transistor Q12, a negative temperature coefficient term caused by the base/emitter voltage and a positive temperature coefficient term depending on an absolute temperature are regulated and the desired reference voltage is provided.
